KICKOFF THE SEASON MEETING:A mandatory meeting of Danscompany members and parents will be held Sunday, August 26th @ 4 pm at at location to be announced for ALL NEW members and ALL returning members. If you are under the age of 18, a parent is required to attend this meeting with you. New and returning adult members are also required to attend. If you are absent from this mandatory meeting, it will be counted as an absence from rehearsals. It is expected that all forms and fees will be turned in prior to this meeting before you can attend the first Danscompany of Gainesville rehearsal.
REHEARSALS:Dancers are responsible to check the bulletin board, weekly newsletter and Danscompany of Gainesville Facebook page for rehearsal schedules and other items of importance. Students/dancers must attend weekly rehearsals. If an emergency arises, the dancer should speak to his or her choreographer. If a dancer misses more than two (2) rehearsals for Cinderella or (1) rehearsal for Spring Concert/The Wiz, it will result in his/her removal from the show. The dancer is responsible for learning missed choreography prior to the next rehearsal. The dancer must attend all technical and dress rehearsals prior to each performance. If the dancer is not able to be at rehearsal, they submit an absentee form to your choreographer prior to that rehearsal. It is advised that you refer to the Danscomapany of Gainesville Code of Conduct issued in your season packet for rules and requirements of illness and absences.
ROLES:Although there is an element of competition involved in getting roles, it is important to cooperate and accept the artistic judgment of the Artistic Director.
VARIABLES IN ROLE SELECTION: • Wing of the company you are currently in
• Your strengths as a dancer • Your commitment to community events and fundraisers • Public acceptance and attitude about previous roles • Being a team player and supporting fellow dancers • Attendance and behavior in class throughout the entire year • Commitment to Danscompany and Dancenter, i.e.: If a dancer is only taking the minimum required classes and another dancer, equally eligible, is going beyond the call of duty, the later will be selected • Bottom line, we must produce the best show possible. Remember, we have a paying audience which expects to see a semi-professional show All the above and more go into the selection process with a lot of consideration, time and love. The Danscompany works very hard at providing many wonderful roles. Each one is special and vital to the show. COMMUNITY SERVICE:Dancers are expected to assist when possible in our community service. This includes dancing at nursing homes, art festivals, our “Chance to Dance” program in the schools, etc.
COMMITTEES:Dancers are expected to provide support for the Danscompany by serving (or having a relative serve) on a committee. It is imperative that every family participates on a Danscompany committee.
COSTUMES:Follow all rules of production, distribution, collection and maintenance of the Costume Committee. There will be a minimum replacement fee of $200 per costume that is altered in ANY way without permission and documentation from the costume committee chairperson. The fee will also include but is not limited to all lost, stolen or damaged costumes.

MEMBERSHIP FEE:The membership fee is $150.00. Failure to comply will result in your name being removed from Danscompany membership.
CLASSES:Danscompany members are required to take at least three (3) dance classes per week from an instructor affiliated with Danscompany. At least one class must be in the discipline that corresponds to the wing of company in which you are a member. It is strongly suggested that serious dancers take above the minimum requirements, as you will benefit from the additional training, and it is also HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that dancers take a minimum of one pointe class a week. If a dancer is absent from 3 consecutive classes (same week, day and time), the dancer and his/her parents will be contacted and he/she may be removed from the current piece. Excessive absence from class could affect future casting in Danscompany shows. Our goal is to have you dance while having experiences with family, school, church, etc that help you to become a well-rounded student and person. Therefore, you do not need to take every class that is available to you but need to commit to being the best dancer that you can be. Please refer to the Danscompany Code of Conduct.
TICKET ASSESSMENT:We always love a sold-out show. You must sell a minimum of 10 tickets for each Danscompany show. The current ticket price is $15.00. You will be billed after each performance for the difference of 10 tickets and your ticket sales. If your account balance is not zero after the last performance, you will not be allowed to dance in the next performance. If your account is not zero after the last performance of the year, you will not be able to audition for the following year. Families with multiple members will be required to sell 10 tickets for the first member and 5 tickets for subsequent members. Since we do not charge a production, rehearsal or costume fee, we feel that this ticket assessment is fair. Please be aware that there is always a slight possibility that the ticket assessment will change due to rising costs of using the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts for our productions.
OUTSTANDING BALANCES:One week prior to the yearly auditions and casting for Cinderella and the Spring Concert, all fees, monies and outstanding balances must be paid and costumes turned in. Members with outstanding balances will not be cast in a show or allowed to audition without approval from the Danscompany President and documentation in writing. Please refer to the Danscompany Code of Conduct.owed to audition.
FUNDRAISERS:You are also expected to participate in all fundraisers. The specific requirements will be announced prior to each event. If you will not be attending a fundraiser, you must submit an excuse in writing as required by the Danscompany Code of Conduct
REPRESENTATION:When representing Danscompany, always dress and behave in an appropriate manner reflecting the highest personal and performer integrity. Your picture, both still and video may be used for publicity.
