KICKOFF THE SEASON MEETING:A mandatory meeting of Danscompany members and parents will be held Sunday, September 9th @ 3:30 pm at the Haile Plantation Towne Center in the Haile Village for ALL NEW members and @ 4:00pm for all returning members. If you are under the age of 18, a parent is required to attend this meeting with you. New and returning adult members are also required to attend. If you are absent from this mandatory meeting, it will be counted as an absence from rehearsals.
REHEARSALS:Dancers are responsible to check the bulletin board weekly for rehearsal schedules and other items of importance. Students must attend weekly rehearsals. If an emergency arises, the dancer should speak to his or her choreographer. A dancer many not miss more than two (2) rehearsals per production or it will result in your removal from the show. The dancer is responsible for learning missed choreography prior to the next rehearsal. You must attend all technical and dress rehearsals prior to each performance. In the event that are not able to be at rehearsal please be respectful and submit it in writing to your choreographer prior to that rehearsal.
ROLES:Although there is an element of competition involved in getting roles, it is important to cooperate and accept the artistic judgment of the Artistic Director.
VARIABLES IN ROLE SELECTION: • Wing of the company you are currently in
• Your strengths and fortes within your training • Your commitment to community events and fund raisers • What is best for this year; looking at the next possibilities • Public acceptance and attitude of previous roles (We all have disappointments. It is OK to handle it at home.) • Being a team player and supporting fellow dancers • Class attitudes • Class attendance all year, not only during company season • If more than one dancer is eligible for a role, all variables will be weighed extensively. • Commitment to Danscompany and Dancenter, i.e.: If a dancer is only taking the minimum required classes and another dancer, equally eligible, is going beyond the call of duty, the later will be selected • Bottom line, we must produce the best show possible. Remember, we have a paying audience which expects to see a semi-professional show All the above and more go into the selection process with a lot of consideration, time and love. The Danscompany works very hard at providing many wonderful roles. Each one is special and vital to the show. COMMUNITY SERVICE:Dancers are expected to assist when possible in our community service. This includes dancing at nursing homes, art festivals, our “Chance to Dance” program in the schools, etc.
COMMITTEES:Dancers are expected to provide support for the Danscompany by serving (or having a relative serve) on a committee.
COSTUMES:Follow all rules of production, distribution, collection and maintenance of the Costume Committee.

MEMBERSHIP FEE:The membership fee is $125.00 and failure to comply will result in your name being removed from Danscompany membership. Families with multiple members will pay the full membership fee for the first member and 60% of the $125.00 fee ($75.00) for subsequent members.
CLASSES:Danscompany members are required to take at least three (3) dance classes per week from an instructor affiliated with Danscompany. At least one class must be in the discipline in which you are performing. It is strongly suggested that serious dancers take above the minimum requirements as you will benefit from the additional training. If a dancer is absent from 3 consecutive classes (same week, day and time), the dancer and his/her parents will be contacted and he/she may be removed from the current piece. Excessive absence from class will affect future casting in Danscompany shows. Please note that our # 1 goal is to have you dance but also to have a well rounded dancer. We want you to take time for other things to make you well rounded also such as family, school, church, etc… You do not need to take every class that is available to you.
TICKET ASSESSMENT:Ticket sales are the pulse of our performances. We always love a sold out crowd. A minimum of 10 tickets must be sold per show for each company in which you are a member. To date our ticket prices are $12.00. For example: if you are a member of BOTH ballet and jazz companies, you will be expected to sell 10 tickets for each show. If you are a member of both companies and decide not to dance in one show, you are still responsible to sell 10 tickets for each show. If you are only a member of one company, you are only required to sell 10 tickets for that show. However, if you dance in both shows, you will be required to sell tickets for both shows. You will be billed after each performance for the difference of 10 tickets and your ticket sales. If your account balance is not zero after the last performance, you will not be allowed to dance. If your account is not zero after the last performance of the year, you will not be able to audition for the following year. Families with multiple members will be required to sell 10 tickets for the first member and 5 tickets for subsequent members. Since we do not charge a production, rehearsal or costume fee, we feel that this ticket assessment is fair. Please be aware that there is always a slight possibility that the ticket assessment will change due to rising costs of using the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts for our productions.
OUTSTANDING BALANCES:One week prior to the yearly auditions and casting for Cinderella and the Spring Concert, all fees must be paid and costumes turned in. Members with outstanding balances will not be case in a show or allowed to audition.
FUNDRAISERS:You are also expected to support all fundraisers. The specific requirements will be announced prior to each event.
REPRESENTATION:When representing Danscompany, always dress and behave in an appropriate manner reflecting the highest personal and performer integrity. Your picture, both still and video may be used for publicity.
